PROJECT MANAGEMENT SKILLS

Freelancers: Buzzfeed is always looking for freelancers to help with various projects and content across our channels. I have been responsible for onboarding and managing our freelancers. This consists of getting their new hire paperwork sent and approved ahead of their start date and providing them with equipment prior to their start.

Once onboarded, I have their time cards processed every week to ensure payment. I create timelines and check ins with freelancers so that we are always on the same page of the pace of projects and completion. At Buzzfeed, we have had various freelancers at a time. Having great organizational and time management skills has allowed me to keep everyone on track.

Brainstorms: A large part of creating content, is brainstorming ideas. When I started this position, I created a calendar with every event large and small happening in the year so that we could brainstorm content ahead of that event. Therefore, before an important event or month like December I host a brainstorm with anywhere between 20-50+ people in attendance. I adapted a system to host these brainstorms virtually and give everyone a chance to get creative and come up with the content we need to be made. I then communicated brain storm ideas to our upper management and beyond for approval.

Channels: Each channel has its’ different needs and requirements to keep it running. I have been fortunate enough to work with many of our channels in many ways.

I have helped track output and analytics for various of our channels through spreadsheets. This has helped us better track what is doing well and what is not working.

I have also helped to create budgets for our content creators and ensure that they do not go over or come up with solutions when they have to.

BUZZFEED - PROJECT MANAGER

I continued my project management experience at Buzzfeed where I have had lots of responsibilities, some similar to my previous role, and others that have given me the opportunity to further grow. This role has been more heavily focused on social media as a whole. I have managed anywhere between 5-16 freelancers at a time across 12 different social channels and grown my love for social media along the way.

CONTENT CREATION

Since we are a content centered company, I was given the opportunity to create TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and article content.

I mainly created short form content for Goodful where I shared vegan recipes and taste tests for the channel’s audience.

I have helped create articles for different events like Hispanic Heritage Month where we showcased Hispanic owned small businesses.

We recently started a new channel that I helped with the creation of and that I came up with the name for, The Portal.
